Pt. 3 Your Beliefs are Magnets
Taking time to refine what you really want is a giant leap into enjoying your relationships like never before. The next step is to take a realistic look at what you’ve been attracting to your life. The life you are living right now, and the relationships you’re experiencing are the direct result of the deep beliefs held in your heart.
Heart Beliefs are the foundation of how we experience life. They are the result of a lifetime of experiences and knowledge that have become deeply entrenched in our core, and they can be both positive and negative. Beliefs are magnets to experience more and more of the same. Thus, if they are positive and affirming heart beliefs, they are the reason why life is amazing and keeps getting better and better. If they are limiting and destructive, they keep us stuck, confused, and feeling duped.
Identifying our personal heart beliefs that are affecting us in a negative way is the first step to flipping our beliefs into coming into agreement with God’s best, God’s blessing, and God’s provision.
The Equation of a heart belief is:
Knowledge + Experience = Heart Belief
It’s pretty straightforward to acquire knowledge and find good information but to deeply transform a belief the missing link is the experience. Because we can’t control conditions and other people, the ultimate way to change our experience is to use the gift of our imaginations.
Audrey’s Personal Application
Growing up, my family culture included memorizing scripture, singing Bible verses in songs, and feeding my heart with great thoughts about God’s love and faithfulness. Knowing scriptures and promises all my life established many limitless heart beliefs, that resulted in wonderful life experiences.
Until it wasn’t working. My personal struggle took place when I was feeling lack and confused when it came to God’s extravagant provision. I wanted to exercise faith, I didn’t have the evidence or experience that it was working for me. Sub-consciously I survived by living sub-standard to God’s promises.
Questions needed to be resolved. If this is God’s will for me to be blessed in every way, even financially, why was our family always depending on miracles? Why did I feel “lack” financially? Because my family is “in ministry” I have to sacrifice. I have to be content with less.
Think about your own limiting heart beliefs. (The fourth quadrant: I don’t have this because I…) Examples of these beliefs are:
“I’ll never be good at communicating”
“I didn’t have good examples of relationships growing up”
“I don’t have enough time, I have to work too much”
“I don’t trust people”
Painful experiences, trauma, and simply our family of origin affect deep beliefs. Have you ever had confusing thoughts like, “Maybe I was disqualified, maybe I don’t have enough faith, maybe I don’t deserve these promises, maybe I’m flawed in this particular area, maybe I’m doomed to be stuck” These continued thoughts and experienced lead to settling for less, admitting to your heart, “I don’t get to enjoy these promises from God”.
The way to have experiences without limit is to use our imagination! I began creating experiences with God that included every promise fulfilled…this allowed me to see the end from the beginning...feel the end from the beginning…and have visuals of provision and success for every need I have.
Focusing on these visuals strengthened the realities of God in my heart. The magnet changed from “lack” to “extravagant provision”. Changing our heart beliefs and co-creating with God is the greatest invitation to living an abundant life!
