What am I missing? Tell me please!
Feeling desperate to find hope for your relationship?
Feeling lost for the next step?
Find Hope for Yourself First
To ask anyone to be everything you need isn’t realistic, and can lead to sadness and hopelessness. Expanding your sense of security and worth apart from any relationship (other than God) is empowering and leads to healthy attachments.
We can’t underestimate the importance of individual heart work. When someone close to you is suffering, or not operating as high-functioning, you might feel like you’re feeling the brunt of it. Trying to find solace within the relationship can feel debilitating because there simply isn’t hope to be found. There is no guarantee or set timeline when your loved ones will find hope for themselves! So in the meantime, finding hope for YOU is essential.
Are you willing to look at yourself instead of the situation?
Are you going to give a person the power to determine your life or your day?
You can partner with God’s promises and find assurance while you are patiently waiting for your loved ones along their journey. Here are some great truths to speak to your own heart: (Fill in the blank with your spouse, your child, your parent, etc)
Even though I don’t understand ________’s struggle, the truth is God knows him/her and God isn’t scared.
Even though I feel so shut out and rejected by ________, the truth is _________ is not my source of security, and I can rest in my friendship with Jesus.
Even though _______ is being weird, the truth is I can focus on and enjoy memories when we were in a good place in our relationship.
Even though __________ is hiding, the truth is he/she has access to Jesus, and I can imagine Jesus with him/her right now.
Even though I feel stranded and afraid, the truth is I belong and I can look back on my life and recall memories when I felt very safe and secure.
Even though I don't understand why _________ doesn’t want to be with me, the truth is I can trust he/she is on a journey, and I can be patient and unafraid.
Even though I feel the demands of being perfect for acceptance, the truth is my life in God is a pathway /stream where I can rest in His presence.
Even though it feels like ________ is emotionally unwell, the truth is Jesus is healing him/her more every day.
Even though I’m scared _________ won’t be okay, the truth is it’s healthy and mature for me to snip the tether of feeling responsible for their healing and happiness.
Your Thoughts and Feelings lead to beliefs
What you think about creates your life and your future. Whatever you currently have and focus on, you’ll keep getting more of that. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Decide to seek to think and feel in direct correlation with the Kingdom of God: Righteousness/alignment, peace, and joy.
