Crashed Dreams

Whenever we feel like our dreams have crashed, it’s important to realize that your current experience is a piece in a larger puzzle, a chapter in a larger story. There is a way to find strength when you’re discouraged. If you feel like the desires of your heart have been hijacked by an injustice, don’t give up. Your difficulty and tragedy are not the end of you. There is hope ahead if you’ll find understanding.

There is a direct correlation between the measure of excitement and the measure of disappointment. If you are feeling intense discouragement because of something that has happened, there is power within your shattered dreams to release better dreams and more fulfilling life ahead. Even though it’s nearly impossible to see, there is a way to “go higher” and find a new point of view.

It’s tempting to make our story about what “they did” or what was taken from you. If we continue to focus on what was said to us or done to us, we will get stuck in injustice, and miss the blessing within the tragedy. Our lives are a journey and an adventure to encounter God amid life’s most difficult times and learn to live beyond our crashed dreams.

In this podcast, I describe what happened to me this last week. It didn’t make any sense. I had zero understanding. I felt tricked. I had done the heart work for months. This was the manifestation of everything I had been believing for. It was an exact and direct answer to prayer. The ultimate dream unfolded right in front of my eyes. So when it suddenly didn’t materialize, I desperately needed new sight, and that’s exactly what Jesus did for me.

Developing confidence in mastering your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs aligns you with God’s very best. Confidence isn’t necessarily a one-time gift but rather developed over repeated practice, new habits, choosing your feelings, and securing your dependence on God.

Decree # 20: (from Decrees from the Psalms, Elizabeth Nixon)

If it were not for the reality that God is

If it were not for the truth of His faithfulness,

If it were not for my confident assurance in Him,

It would be too easy to become discouraged

But I do believe

I do know

That I will see

The goodness of the Lord - now in this lifetime!

Therefore I wait -

Full of confident hope and expectation

Therefore I remain strong

Full of courage

For the One I wait on - is faithful

The One I wait on - He has promised it,

The One I wait on - He is coming, I wait for you, Lord
